The Borders…

The Borders was very beautiful, but literary tourism has done its work, the Eildon Hills well marked with a new sign, with an abbreviated Thomas the Rhymer story and dodgy art. Carterhaugh has a ‘Tamlane’s well’ of recent origin, and statues of Sir Walter Scott everywhere. Great hotel in Clovenford and good food (pheasant and venison). Saw hill that is my candidate for ‘…took me to the green hill to dwell’ of the song and the residence of the Qweene of Fearrie. drc
